Ruf Records’ Blues Caravan is unstoppable. Fifteen years after putting on their first showcase tour, this ultimate blues party now brings together three stars who will kick the blues into the modern age: Ryan Perry known from his Homemade Jamz Blues Band, the bluesman from St. Louis – Jeremiah Johnson – as well as Whitney Shaw, the San Diego fireball with her red hair and sparkling dresses. The Ruf Records blues caravan performed at Tampere Hall in 2017 and are now back for some steaming hot blues.
Ryan Perry won the International Blues Challenge in Memphis in 2007 as a teenage phenomenon with his talent for sharp storytelling, stinging guitar and soulful vocals. This charismatic bandleader released his latest solo album in 2019. “My live shows are packed with passion and soul, always fun and full of energy,” he promises.
Jeremiah Johnson published his acclaimed Straitjacket album in 2018 – the album that put him in the spotlight with its unique sound and lyrics. “I always sing my songs from my heart, with the same passion that I had when I wrote them. They come from the blood, sweat and tears of genuine blues.”
The caravan’s female power Whitney Shay shakes out her R&B rhythms from her A Woman Rules the World album – and gives you a sneak preview of the studio material to come.
“If I can make the audience leave smiling and feeling like they’ve forgotten about the troubles of their day, I’ve done my job,” she states.
