Coppélia is one of the world’s most beloved ballets – now it can finally be experienced in Tampere! The work is based on the fairytale by E.T.A.Hoffmann where a young man falls for the songwriter’s beautiful Coppélia doll. The choreography was made by Ronald Hynd and is based on Marius Petipa’s version. The music is composed by Léo Delibes.
Live music performed by Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Jüri Alperten. The ballet is brought to Tampere by the Estonian National Ballet.
The world premiere of Coppélia was seen in Paris in 1870. Ever since then this humorous ballet has been a part of the classic repertoire of ballet houses.
