The world’s most awarded a cappella groups breaks genre boundaries!

A winner of ten Grammies and noted as the world’s best vocal group, the American Take 6 will perform in Tampere Hall in December. The group is known for its adaptability and co-operation with music icons like Ray Charles, Whitney Houston and Stevie Wonder. Already on their debut album, Take 6 won two Grammies, and now, 16 albums later, the sextet is the most awarded vocal group in the history.

During their career, Take 6 has covered different genres extensively, from jazz to pop and R’n’B. Their new album ICONIC features cover songs loved by the sextet and they take their favourite songs to a whole new level. These hits include, for instance, a whimsical and innovative version of Justin Timberlake’s Can’t stop the feeling and a memorable interpretation of Norah Jones’ song Don’t know why.

As a band who started out with gospel, Take 6 hasn’t forgotten its roots, which is why the ICONIC album also features an interpretation of the hymn Nothing but the blood. The band has succeeded in respecting its origins while constantly renewing itself at the same time. Singer Joe Kibble describes the group as a family that sticks together and respects one another. This translates also into the smooth performances of Take 6 as on stage, the group engages in seamless co-operation, without forgetting fun.
