Finnish trumpet player Verneri Pohjola’s strong rich musical expression have made him known throughout Europe as one of the most creative and original jazz musicians of our time. With a series of highly successful records, he released his latest album The Dead Don’t Dream in May 2020. This album incorporates his influences of his last three albums onto one defined and beautifully crafted album. In 2017, Pohjola was awarded the most prestigious Finnish jazz prize, the Yrjö Award.
Featuring Tuomo Prättälä on piano, Antti Lötjönen on bass and Mika Kallio on drums, the band shares a deep sense of balance between the interpretation and composition of Pohjola’s captivating music. The show portrays a true statement of an artist immersed in the world of European jazz.
The new album has received appraising press reviews; the nation’s leading newspaper Helsingin Sanomat giving out the brightest five stars (28.4.2020 / Harri Uusitorppa).
