Welcome to a children’s opera performance for the whole family!
This is a shortened, 60-minute Finnish-language version of Gioachino Rossini’s (1792–1868) Cinderella, designed for all ages. Spoken dialogue has been added to make the performance easy and engaging for children. The adaptation and direction are by Anselmi Hirvonen, with Laura Kivikoski as conductor and pianist.
Rossini’s Cinderella is a popular classic, a well-loved fairy tale whose touching and instructive story is wrapped in the most beautiful and humorous musical form. This fresh new production presents the work as the joyful coming-of-age story of a young woman, in which understanding, love, and forgiveness ultimately prevail. The staging is modern, captivating, and full of delightful surprises and comic moments.
The production’s perspective is both timely and important: diversity, bullying, discrimination, and beauty standards. These themes are often addressed in spoken theatre but rarely in opera and classical music. This performance makes it easy for everyone to share in the story together. An hour of light, funny, and high-quality classical opera music will pass for children almost without them noticing.

Enjoy a buffet-style selection featuring, among other delights, locally produced cheeses, cold cuts, and mouth-watering marinated treats. Special dietary requirements are accommodated based on advance notice at the time of booking. A pre-booked seat at the antipasto table served before the performance €22.90. The table is set 1.5 hours before the performance begins on the 3rd floor of Tampere Hall. There is a bar in the space where drinks can be ordered on the spot. Check whether the menu is available for the performance and come enjoy!
