Tampere Big Band goes 80s – sparkle and groove for 40 years!
Tampere Big Band was founded in 1985 – the same era when the music of global stars like Madonna, Tina Turner, Donna Summer, and Michael Jackson filled the airwaves, alongside Finnish legends such as Dingo, Sielun Veljet and Juice Leskinen.
In this anniversary concert, the band celebrates its 40-year journey with dazzling new arrangements by Tero Lindberg, featuring the radiant Diandra as soloist. The concert also includes swinging instrumental numbers from across the Big Band’s four-decade history.

About the performers
Tampere Big Band, founded in 1985, is known for its diverse repertoire ranging from traditional big band swing to funk and modern rhythm music. The orchestra has collaborated with some of Finland’s top vocalists, including Maria Ylipää, Johanna Försti, Emma Salokoski, Sami Pitkämö, and Sami Saari. Tampere Big Band has also premiered numerous works composed especially for the ensemble.
The band has performed Juice Leskinen’s music arranged for big band in concerts featuring soloists such as Mikko Alatalo and Heikki Hela. With two albums and a variety of performances – including the popular Swinging Christmas concert series – the ensemble has earned a firm place on the Finnish jazz map.
Since 2006, the band has been conducted by Juha Untala, who also teaches trumpet at Tampere Conservatoire and leads several wind ensembles there. He is also an accomplished theatre musician and musical director.
Diandra is a powerhouse Finnish-Chilean vocalist. In addition to winning Idols, she has appeared on Finnish TV shows like Tähdet, tähdet and The Voice Kids, and has been a star performer on the popular music show Elämäni Biisi for six seasons.
Beyond her solo albums – including two studio albums and a Christmas record – Diandra’s voice can be heard on hit singles by artists such as Mikael Gabriel, Uniikki, and Cheek. Alongside her music career, she has acted in musicals, appeared in the TV series Uusi päivä, and voiced numerous animated films including Encanto, The Smurfs, Ice Age, and most recently Mummies.

Enjoy a buffet-style selection featuring, among other delights, locally produced cheeses, cold cuts, and mouth-watering marinated treats. Special dietary requirements are accommodated based on advance notice at the time of booking. A pre-booked seat at the antipasto table served before the performance €22.90. The table is set 1.5 hours before the performance begins on the 3rd floor of Tampere Hall. There is a bar in the space where drinks can be ordered on the spot. Check whether the menu is available for the performance and come enjoy!
