Tampere Cappella turns 10 – now it’s time to take flight! In this anniversary concert by Tampere’s own professional choir, you will hear moving new and old choral music from Finland and around the world. Tampere Cappella is led by artistic director Markus Yli-Jokipii.
American composer Caroline Shaw (b. 1982), one of the most performed classical composers today, will be featured with three works: To the Hands, …and the Swallow, and the brand-new mixed choir piece Its Motion Keeps. Themes of birds and love weave throughout the concert program.
The program also includes the rarely heard French classic Cinq Rechants by Olivier Messiaen (1908–1992) and Lovesongs by Norwegian Torbjørn Dyrud (b. 1974). From the Finnish repertoire, you’ll hear, among others, Jean Sibelius’s (1865–1957) beautiful Cantique newly arranged for cello and choir.
The concert lasts approximately 2 hours including an intermission.

Enjoy a buffet-style selection featuring, among other delights, locally produced cheeses, cold cuts, and mouth-watering marinated treats. Special dietary requirements are accommodated based on advance notice at the time of booking. A pre-booked seat at the antipasto table served before the performance €22.90. The table is set 1.5 hours before the performance begins on the 3rd floor of Tampere Hall. There is a bar in the space where drinks can be ordered on the spot. Check whether the menu is available for the performance and come enjoy!
