Lasse Heikkilä’s Missa Concordiae, completed in 1993, is considered one of the most daring and distinctive works in Finnish church music. The composition combines the traditional structure of the Mass with a contemporary, energetic, and boundary-breaking musical expression.
Following an extensive tour of the original version, widespread acclaim, and a televised recording, the work has been performed only rarely. Its demanding musical language, which requires professional-level performers, along with arrangements that blend orchestral instruments and a band, presents exceptional production challenges. A partial performance of the work at the Glow Festival in 2025 inspired Seinäjoki-based music influencers Mikko and Tarja Kultalahti to take on the challenge.
The production team first convened in October 2025.
The Latin title of the work translates as Mass of Reconciliation. Lasse Heikkilä has described how, while composing the songs, he reflected on the need for reconciliation on many levels: between communities, within the inner world of the individual, and between the Creator and creation.
Missa Concordiae 2026 introduces two new songs alongside the original material, seamlessly complementing the whole. The result is a celebration for lovers of boundary-crossing music—an invitation to experience the message, energy, and atmosphere of a progressive pop Mass in a fresh way.

Enjoy a buffet-style selection featuring, among other delights, locally produced cheeses, cold cuts, and mouth-watering marinated treats. Special dietary requirements are accommodated based on advance notice at the time of booking. A pre-booked seat at the antipasto table served before the performance €22.90. The table is set 1.5 hours before the performance begins on the 3rd floor of Tampere Hall. There is a bar in the space where drinks can be ordered on the spot. Check whether the menu is available for the performance and come enjoy!
