The concert lasts about 4.5 hours. Each performance is followed by a 45-minute intermission. The Finnish Broadcasting Company Yle records the concerts for radio.

Trio Raulin, Bekkas, Biayenda (FR, MA, CG)
Pianist François Raulin, gnawa master Majid Bekkas, and percussionist Émile Biayenda create a unique musical world where jazz improvisation meets the hypnotic sound of the guembri and African polyrhythms. Raulin’s French jazz has long drawn inspiration from African music. Bekkas from Morocco plays the guembri lute, used by the descendants of slaves, the gnawa people, in their ceremonies and spiritual music. Joining the trio in 2018, Congolese musician Biayenda is an expert in African percussion. Each has visited Finland before, but this is their first joint performance here.
Émile Parisien Quartet (FR)
French soprano saxophonist and composer Émile Parisien formed his quartet in 2004. Though he has toured Finland in other contexts, this is the group’s first performance in Tampere. Expect surprises, virtuosity, humor, captivating intensity, and boundless jazz. Alongside Parisien, the other composers in the ensemble are pianist Julien Touéry, double bassist Ivan Gélugne, and drummer Julien Loutelier. Their latest album Let Them Cook (2024) was awarded Jazz Album of the Year in France.
Goran Kajfeš Tropiques (SE)
Trumpeter and composer Goran Kajfeš has been at the forefront of Swedish jazz for over two decades. He last appeared in Tampere two years ago with his other ensemble, Subtropic Arkestra. Now he returns with the six-piece Tropiques, whose latest album Tell Us (2024) was voted Swedish Jazz Album of the Year by readers of Orkesterjournalen. Their music is described as meditative, melodic “hypno-jazz.” Kajfeš’s visionary quartet (Alexander Zethson, piano – Jo Berger Myhre, bass – Johan Holmegard, drums) is joined by a string section (Anna Rubinsztein, violin – Leo Svensson, cello).

Enjoy a buffet-style selection featuring, among other delights, locally produced cheeses, cold cuts, and mouth-watering marinated treats. Special dietary requirements are accommodated based on advance notice at the time of booking. A pre-booked seat at the antipasto table served before the performance €22.90. The table is set 1.5 hours before the performance begins on the 3rd floor of Tampere Hall. There is a bar in the space where drinks can be ordered on the spot.
