The Music of Ennio Morricone returns to Finland – with a record-breaking 14-city concert tour!

The Italian orchestra Le Muse, which has toured worldwide, will arrive in Finland early next year with their concert The Music of Ennio Morricone. The beloved masterpieces of film music will now be performed in a record-breaking 14 cities. The orchestra, conducted by Andrea Albertini, last performed in Finland at the beginning of this year – back then, tickets were nearly sold out everywhere, and six additional concerts had to be arranged.

The concerts will feature Ennio Morricone’s most famous works from the 1960s to the present day. The latest addition is the music composed for Quentin Tarantino’s film The Hateful Eight, for which Morricone won an Academy Award in 2016. The concert experience will be enhanced by photos and film clips shown during each piece, as well as anecdotes and stories shared by conductor Andrea Albertini.

Le Muse is an instrumental orchestra founded by Albertini, consisting of talented musicians who studied at music academies in Northern Italy. The classically trained players, who have performed worldwide, capture the deepest nuances of Morricone’s music. At the Finland concerts, the guest soloist will be the Swedish-born Italian soprano Susanna Rigacci, who performed solo parts in Morricone’s concerts and tours for nearly twenty years.

Italian composer Ennio Morricone is regarded as one of the most famous and influential film composers in cinematic history. His uniquely versatile, long, and high-quality career as a composer spanned from Spaghetti Westerns to major Hollywood productions, and also included music beyond film scores.

Morricone’s film music, which began in the 1960s, can be heard in Sergio Leone’s Dollars Trilogy (A Fistful of Dollars, For a Few Dollars More, and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly) and Once Upon a Time trilogy (Once Upon a Time in the West, Duck, You Sucker! and Once Upon a Time in America), Giuseppe Tornatore’s Cinema Paradiso, John Boorman’s Exorcist II: The Heretic, John Carpenter’s The Thing, and Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight.

In 2007, Ennio Morricone received an Honorary Academy Award for lifetime achievement, and in 2016 he won an Oscar for the score of Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight. In addition, Morricone was honored with three Grammys, three Golden Globes, six BAFTAs, two European Film Awards, and the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement at the Venice Film Festival. Morricone passed away in 2020 at the age of 91.
