Legendary funk and soul band Tower Of Power to Finland this summer!

The American group Tower Of Power, which has been serving up some of the world’s most powerful funk and soul sounds for more than half a century, will perform at Tampere Hall on Friday, June 12, 2026. Ticket sales for the concert begin on Friday, Dec 12, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Lippupiste.fi.

Tower Of Power, one of the most renowned and respected funk and soul bands, traces its roots back to 1968, when founding duo Emilio Castillo and Stephen “Doc” Kupka shaped the group’s distinctive direction and name while pursuing a gig at San Francisco’s famous Fillmore music venue.

Their debut album East Bay Grease (1970) defined the band’s Oakland soul sound and led them to Warner Music, whose release Bump City (1972) produced the hits You’re Still a Young Man and Down to the Nightclub. The 1970’s cemented the band’s status with soul classics like So Very Hard to Go and What Is Hip?, along with the intense live energy that made their concerts famous.

Over the decades, Tower Of Power has toured the world, performing both as arena headliners and alongside legendary artists. Their collaborators include, among others, Elton John, Santana, Grateful Dead, John Lee Hooker, Aerosmith, and Bonnie Raitt. The band’s 50^th anniversary concert at Oakland’s Fox Theater in 2018 proved that their earth-shaking groove and soulful show energy are still going strong. Last summer, Tower Of Power was seen performing on the main stage at Pori Jazz.

The summer 2026 concert offers a rare opportunity to experience this iconic funk and soul institution in Finland, in the powerful, energetic, and irresistibly swinging style that has left its mark on generations of fans and helped define an entire genre!
