Over a thousand aerosol research experts gathered at Tampere Hall

EAC2024 brought together over a thousand aerosol research specialists from around the world to Tampere Hall. The annual conference, Europe’s largest in the field of aerosol research, offered researchers, companies, and other stakeholders an opportunity to network, share the latest scientific findings, and hear about recent developments in the field. The week-long event featured a…

The European Aerosol Conference, the most influential event in its field, was held in August for the first time in Finland. Tampere and Tampere Hall were chosen as the conference venue thanks to their central location.

“Tampere Hall was very accessible, and the surrounding area offered plenty of options for accommodation,” says professor Miikka Dal Maso from Tampere University.

The organizers also received positive feedback about the variety of nearby restaurants and the easy train connection from Helsinki Airport to Tampere. From Tampere’s railway station, Tampere Hall was only a short walk away.

The whole building in use

The conference required a large number of rooms and spaces, so the entire Tampere Hall was reserved for the event. Dal Maso says the facilities met expectations and were sufficient overall.

“The spaces worked really well, and everything was run professionally. We received positive feedback from visitors about the building’s versatility,” Dal Maso continues.

Dal Maso also notes that technical services worked well. All technical needs were met, and help was available quickly when needed.

“We got assistance quickly whenever necessary, and we were satisfied with the service.”

Praise for catering services

Conference participants were offered lunch throughout the week, and both small and large coffee breaks were organized, which were considered an essential part of the event.

“We received a lot of praise for the quality of the catering. The building’s facilities and catering services also worked well for the volunteers. Not every venue offers the possibility for volunteers or organizers to have their own dining area, so that was definitely a big advantage at Tampere Hall,” Dal Maso explains.

Talo Events supporting conference arrangements

The conference was organized by the Finnish Association for Aerosol Research with the support of a local congress office. Tampere Hall’s subsidiary, Talo Events, was an excellent choice for the task. The congress team at Talo Events is well-acquainted with the Tampere Hall venue and has extensive experience in organizing large international events.

“Talo Events was proactive and provided us with a lot of useful information, which improved our chances of success as organizers. Communication worked well, and we had no complaints,” says Dal Maso.

“Close cooperation with Talo Events made the organizing process a positive experience.”

“One of the best, if not the best, conferences!”

Dal Maso says the Finnish Association for Aerosol Research was pleased with the feedback received from participants. He says the atmosphere in the building was good and the approach professional. Visitors had described the conference as one of the best, if not the very best. Tampere as a city also left a good impression, which may help with recruitment in the field in the future.

The aim of the event was to promote aerosol research and science in Finland and increase its visibility. Hosting the conference in Tampere allowed many Finnish aerosol researchers to attend.

Finnish research received a lot of positive visibility. Its good reputation was maintained and perhaps even improved! Financially, the conference week was also a success, as there were enough participant1s and the association even made a small profit. I would definitely recommend Tampere Hall as an event venue, and in fact, I already have!
