The beloved animated film The Snowman (1982) tells the story of a young boy named James and his magical Christmas adventure with The Snowman. During the much awaited event at Tampere Hall’s, the animation will be shown on a big screen, and the music composed by Howard Blake will be performed by the Tampere Academic Symphony Orchestra (TASO) conducted by Dimas Ruiz.
The classic film The Snowman, based on Raymond Briggs’ picture book of the same name and its original illustrations, has been a tradition that marks the beginning of Christmas for many children over the past four decades. Faithful to the book, the film tells the story of The Snowman without any words.
The magical atmosphere of the animation is brought to life through music composed by Howard Blake, a well-known pianist and conductor. His extensive body of work includes both film music and orchestral and stage music. The music of The Snowman is his most famous piece, and its touching theme song Walking in the Air has been performed by various artists in different arrangements. The name of the boy soprano who will sing in the concert will be announced later.
