MIKKO ALATALO – 50 YEARS SINCE “MAALAISPOIKA”

Last year marked the 50th anniversary of Mikko Alatalo’s debut album Maalaispoika oon (“I’m a Country Boy”). The album and its title track quickly rose to the top of the charts the following year, and the artist continues his 50 Years Since Maalaispoika anniversary tour, which began last fall, all the way through the end of 2025! The final concert of the tour will take place at Tampere Hall on Friday, 14th November, 2025.

Mikko Alatalo’s long solo career began with the release of Maalaispoika oon, and it’s still going strong today. The anniversary tour features songs from the debut album performed live for the first time in years, alongside gems of “Manserock” and songs of the North from the early days of his career. These concerts offer a comprehensive look at Mikko’s musical journey — later hits included.

“Maalaispoika oon has, of course, always been part of my live set, but some songs from that album have received less attention over the years. This anniversary tour gives me a wonderful opportunity to perform those tracks, as well as other songs from the early years of my career. That album was almost like a prelude to the Colonial Finland songs, which explore the depopulation of the countryside and are some of my most important works,” Alatalo says.

Mikko Alatalo is one of Finland’s most significant entertainers. The 73-year-old music counselor has had a remarkable career with 700 recorded songs, 600 of which were co-written with Harri Rinne. He has performed over 6,000 shows and released more than 50 albums. In recent years, he has received honors including the Iskelmä-Finlandia award, the Finland Prize, and appeared on the popular TV show Vain elämää.

Expect laughter and memories — a deeply emotional and touching evening! Mikko will be accompanied by Alatalo Bros. Band. The stage will also feature Anne Mattila, Ronja Alatalo, Aleksanteri Hakaniemi, Eero A, and Coitus Int 50 Revival.
