The first Moomin Music concert at Tampere Hall sold out quickly – but no worries! An extra concert will take place at Tampere Hall on Saturday, 21 March at 1 pm. Tickets for the extra concert are now on sale, so don’t wait too long!
The animated series Moomin became a huge phenomenon in the 1990s, and its beloved music is an inseparable part of Finland’s shared cultural memory. We all know the sound when the Groke emerges from the darkness, Snork’s airship takes to the skies, or when Snufkin heads south and Moominvalley slowly falls silent under the snow.
For the first time at Tampere Hall, the iconic soundtrack composed by Japanese composer Sumio Shiratori will be performed live, as this hugely popular concert series continues with a highly anticipated new edition. The concert is especially for those whose childhood memories trace the paths of Moominvalley – and who wish to revisit them through music. The musical experience will be complemented by familiar animated images from the series projected on the big screen.
The legendary music will be heard in brand-new arrangements that honour the original, rich in sound and colour, performed by a top-class symphonic ensemble in a full-length concert. The 20+ member orchestra consists of young professional musicians with a special place in their hearts for the Moomins and Moomin music.
Moomin (1990–1992) is a Japanese-Finnish-Dutch co-production based on the beloved characters created by Tove Jansson. Hosting the Tampere Hall evening concert is actor Timo Torikka, remembered as the original Finnish voice of Snufkin in the TV series. The host of the extra concert will be announced later.

Enjoy a buffet-style selection featuring, among other delights, locally produced cheeses, cold cuts, and mouth-watering marinated treats. Special dietary requirements are accommodated based on advance notice at the time of booking. A pre-booked seat at the antipasto table served before the performance €22.90. The table is set 1.5 hours before the performance begins on the 3rd floor of Tampere Hall. There is a bar in the space where drinks can be ordered on the spot. Check whether the menu is available for the performance and come enjoy!
