World-renowned conductor Santtu-Matias Rouvali acts as the patron of the Pirkanmaa Music Institute’s grand orchestral cavalcade. Come hear and experience the joyful music-making of children, young people, and adults alike — along with Santtu-Matias throwing himself enthusiastically into many different roles. Over 400 musicians will take the stage of Tampere Hall’s Main Auditorium!

The combined ensembles of the concert include PMO’s string orchestras Allegro, Anime, Arco, Brio, Pizzicato, Comodo, and Sinfoniajouset, as well as the wind ensembles Puhallinpantterit, Windus 1, Windus 2, Windus 3, Riskiryhmä, Puhallica, and Pirkanmaan Puhaltajat. Also participating is the Ikaalinen Youth Orchestra (INO).

Santtu-Matias Rouvali is a conductor residing in Ylöjärvi. He is the Principal Conductor of London’s Philharmonia Orchestra and Honorary Conductor of the Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra. Internationally sought-after, Rouvali collaborates closely with many esteemed orchestras and soloists. In recent seasons, he has conducted, among others, the New York, Munich, and Berlin Philharmonic Orchestras, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, and the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, where he served as Chief Conductor for eight years.

The duration of the concert is approximately 2 hours, including an intermission.
