Special opening hours: On Saturday, August 8, 2026, the exhibition will be open with extended hours from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM in celebration of Moomin – The Grand Celebration Day and the Park Concert.

Ticket sales for the exhibition at Tampere Hall and in the online store close one hour before the exhibition closes each day.

Tickets

A single-entry ticket entitles you to a 3-hour admission to the exhibition area. A date-specific single-entry ticket reserves your visit for a specific day, while an open-date single-entry ticket allows you to visit on any chosen day. In addition, K18 (18+) single-entry tickets are available for Friday evenings from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM.

With a day wristband (available in limited quantities each day), you can visit the exhibition throughout the day in accordance with opening hours. You will receive the wristband at the exhibition entrance by showing your ticket. You may leave the area during the day and re-enter by showing your wristband. Please note that on Friday evenings from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, the area is restricted to visitors aged 18 and over.

Children under 4 years old can enter the exhibition free of charge, and no separate single-entry ticket or wristband is required.

We recommend purchasing single-entry tickets or day wristbands in advance online. This helps you avoid unnecessary waiting at the Tampere Hall ticket office. Especially on busy days, there may be queues at the ticket sales point.

With a single-entry ticket or day wristband purchased online, you can skip the ticket office in the main lobby of Tampere Hall on your visit day and go directly to the exhibition entrance at the Sorsapuistosali door, showing your ticket on a mobile device or as a printed copy.

1. If you are purchasing a date-specific single-entry ticket or a day wristband, select your preferred visit date.
2. If you are purchasing an open-date single-entry ticket, you will find that ticket type at the end of the list. You can also access it directly via the button below.
3. Select the desired number of tickets and complete your purchase.
4. On the day of your visit, you can skip the Tampere Hall main lobby ticket office and go directly to the exhibition entrance at the Sorsapuistosali door, showing your ticket on a mobile device or as a printed copy.

Please present proof of eligibility for a discounted ticket (e.g. a student or pensioner card, or a valid certificate of unemployment) to the ticket inspector upon entry. NOTE: The exhibition does not accept Museum Cards or other discount cards (e.g. Kaikukortti).

18+ Evenings on Friday

Welcome to enjoy Game On in a relaxed adults-only atmosphere!

K18 Evening takes place at the Summer Exhibition on Fridays from 6 pm to 9 pm. During this time, the exhibition is open exclusively to adults, allowing visitors to enjoy the immersive exhibition and play in a relaxed adults-only atmosphere. Two 18+ games are also available during K18 Evening. These games are not available at other times due to their age ratings.

A separate admission ticket is required for K18 Evening. If you have a Friday day wristband, you may also stay for K18 Evening, provided you are 18 or older. Visitors with a single-entry ticket may also stay if their three-hour visit has not yet ended and they are 18 or older. Visitors under the age of 18 must leave the exhibition area by 6 pm. The exhibition area will be cleared at 6 pm, after which entry is permitted only to visitors aged 18 or over.

You may leave the exhibition area during your visit and return later. Before leaving, please get a hand stamp, which allows you to re-enter the exhibition.

Please be prepared to provide proof of age upon request by presenting a valid photo ID, such as a driver’s licence or passport.

Game On

Game On – Explore the History and Present of Video Games Through Play

This summer, visitors to Tampere Hall will have a unique opportunity to explore the world of video games at the Game On summer exhibition, presented by Tampere Live in collaboration with the Barbican Centre and the City of London Corporation. The exhibition will be open daily at Tampere Hall’s Sorsapuisto Hall from 27 June to 9 August 2026.

Game On will be presented in Finland for the first time in this format. Over the years, the exhibition has been showcased at 44 venues across 28 countries and has attracted more than four million visitors worldwide.

The exhibition area features over 100 different video games. All of them are available for testing and play. Each game includes instructions in Finnish along with age recommendations. English instructions can be accessed via a QR code displayed on the device.

Please be considerate of other players and do not spend an unreasonable amount of time on a single game, so that as many visitors as possible can play. Even so, there may occasionally be queues for the most popular games. If a game is busy, please try the other games first.

The games are grouped by theme into their own dedicated sectors

The Game On exhibition area is divided into eleven different sectors, each with its own theme focusing on a specific aspect of gaming. The overall exhibition experience does not require visiting the sectors in any particular order; instead, visitors are free to explore whichever sectors they choose and in whatever order they prefer.

This is a truly unique exhibition experience — a playable history of video games. The exhibition features more than 100 playable games that showcase the remarkable technological and creative evolution of the gaming industry over the past 60 years,” says Patrick Moran, Head of Commercial Strategy and Partnerships at the Barbican Immersive Department from the Barbican Centre.

“The exhibition includes iconic game franchises such as Mario, Halo and Space Invaders, as well as rare and unique games that are difficult to find elsewhere. We are also looking forward to expanding the exhibition by exploring the history of the Finnish gaming industry and highlighting the significant contributions of Finnish game developers, from the Amiga demo scene of the 1980s to the global phenomenon Angry Birds. Finland is a pioneer in the gaming industry, and we want to showcase that through the Game On exhibition as well. Visitors will experience an exhibition that recognises gaming as one of the most important creative industries of our time,” he continues.

Good to Know

• The exhibition is open to visitors of all ages, but some of the games may not be suitable for younger children.
• Parents and guardians are responsible for supervising the younger members of their group. Please ensure that children only play games whose content is appropriate for their age, experience, and skill level.
• All modern video games featured in the exhibition have been classified according to the European PEGI age rating system. If a game carries a recommended age rating of 12+ or 16+, the corresponding symbol will be displayed on the game’s information panel.
• Games rated for adults aged 18 and over (5 titles) can only be played on Friday evenings between 6:00 PM and 9:00 PM, when the exhibition area is designated as an adults-only (18+) zone.
• At times, queues may form for the most popular games. We kindly ask visitors to be considerate of fellow players and avoid occupying any single game for an unreasonable length of time.
• The introductory texts for the exhibition sections and the main information panels are available in both Finnish and English.
• However, the gameplay instructions provided next to the video games are available in Finnish only. English-language instructions can be accessed via the QR code displayed on the instruction card.
• Certain visual patterns or flashing lights may trigger epileptic seizures in a very small number of individuals.
• The sound effects from the video games in the Game On exhibition may occasionally create a somewhat cacophonous environment. However, noise levels remain moderate. If you find the sounds uncomfortable, we recommend using hearing protection. Earplugs are available for purchase at the Gamer Shop and at the Tampere Hall ticket office.
• The exhibition is fully accessible. A personal assistant accompanying a paying visitor with a mobility impairment, visual, hearing, or developmental disability, autism spectrum condition, dysphasia, or a documented need for special support is entitled to a complimentary assistant ticket.
• Food and beverages are not permitted in the exhibition area. Water bottles and infant formula are allowed.
• If you need assistance or have any questions, our exhibition game supervisors are always on site and happy to help.

Gamer Shop

Unique souvenirs for friends – and fun memories for yourself from the Gamer Shop!

Located near the entrance to the summer exhibition, Gamer Shop is the largest gaming-themed shop in Finland. It is open during the exhibition’s opening hours, and you can visit the shop even without an exhibition ticket.

At the shop you will find, among other things:

• Licensed products from brands such as Nintendo, Microsoft and SEGA.
• Unique and one-of-a-kind gaming-related items, including T-shirts, tote bags, postcards and posters, pin badges and keychains, as well as pens and notebooks.

Tritonus Record Store, located in the lobby of Tampere Hall, is also joining the Game On excitement. The store offers a wide selection of video game music. Tritonus is open during the Summer Exhibition’s opening hours.

Eat and Drink

Enjoy game-themed treats at Restaurant Tuhto!

Restaurant Tuhto, located in the main lobby of Tampere Hall, is serving special game-inspired dishes throughout the summer season. The summer menu features the Gamer Combo, including a main course and dessert.

Seasoned potatoes, crispy chicken, cauliflower wings, vegetable sticks, ginger-lime coleslaw, herb mayonnaise and lime-jalapeño mayonnaise.

Dessert:
Tuhto’s Rocky Road with caramel popcorn.

Tuhto also offers its regular selection of speciality coffees, pastries, weekday lunch and à la carte dishes. The terrace is open, weather permitting.

FAQ

• Can I exchange or return my ticket, for example due to illness?
  All ticket purchases are binding and final from the moment of booking and cannot be exchanged or refunded.
• Can I change the date of my dated ticket to another day?
  Unfortunately, the visit date of a dated ticket cannot be changed after purchase. If you are unsure about the timing of your visit, we recommend purchasing an open-date ticket.
• Can I enter on any day with a pre-purchased open-date ticket?
  Yes. However, for safety reasons, we can only admit a limited number of people to Sorsapuistosali at one time, so there may be a queue at the exhibition entrance.
• How much time should I allow for the experience?
  A single-entry ticket entitles you to a three-hour visit to the exhibition area, which is generally sufficient for exploring the exhibition and trying out the games. If you would like to stay longer, we recommend purchasing a day wristband, which allows you to remain in the exhibition area throughout the day during opening hours.
• How is the hygiene of the gaming equipment maintained?
  Our gaming supervisors clean the gaming equipment daily and whenever necessary. Several hand sanitizer stations are available throughout the exhibition area for visitors. The exhibition space is cleaned every day.
• Is there a shop at the exhibition?
  Yes! Welcome to explore the charming Gamer Shop, where you will find unique products inspired by the world of gaming.
• Can I visit the shop without an exhibition ticket?
  Yes! The Gamer Shop is located outside the exhibition area, so you are welcome to shop even without an exhibition ticket.
• Is photography allowed at the exhibition?
  Yes! Feel free to share your best photos on social media and tag us: @tamperetalo.
• Is the exhibition suitable for children?
  Yes, the exhibition is designed for visitors of all ages and there is no age restriction. Children under the age of 4 can enter free of charge.
