Scott Bradlee’s Postmodern Jukebox, the pop-jazz sensation that performs vintage arrangements of pop classics, returns to Finland. The American musical collective that has garnered two billion views on YouTube and become an enormous viral sensation is coming to Tampere Hall this June.
When pianist Scott Bradlee first put together his era-blending musical collective in his Queens basement apartment in the summer of 2014, he created a viral hit that would quickly go from Internet phenomenon to selling out concert venues across North America and Europe.
The show’s first tours won acclaim from both the music media and famous artists. Over the next few years, Postmodern Jukebox earned a reputation as “Saturday Night Live for singers” and as a springboard that launched the careers of dozens of exceptional artists who had been overlooked by the record industry. Ten years and two billion YouTube views later, Postmodern Jukebox gigs have become an annual tradition for hundreds of thousands of dedicated fans, who don their finest vintage attire in order to immerse themselves in the experience.
Concertgoers will once again get the chance to enjoy a dazzling and inspiring journey through the Postmodern Jukebox universe, where modern earworms and iconic pop hits are dressed up in classic styles, starting with the jazz and swing of the Roaring Twenties and continuing all the way to doo-wop and soul. Familiar songs are given new life by world-class singers, dancers and instrumentalists.
“By the end of 2023, PMJ will have performed 937 shows in 44 countries across five continents. That kind of longevity in a notoriously fickle industry was completely unexpected for us. There’s no secret formula, other than an obsession for classic sounds and a commitment to showcasing phenomenal talent. We continue to feel honoured and humbled by our audiences’ support for this project, which continues to inspire us and push us to new heights of artistry. It’s the perfect marriage, and our tenth anniversary tour will be a celebration,” says the show’s arranger and director Scott Bradlee.
The event will include a dance floor, so you won’t have to stand still and let the tunes go to waste.
