Tampere Theatre & Tampere Hall proudly present: The Lord of the Rings

Tampere Theatre and Tampere Hall invite you to the adventure of a lifetime when J. R. R. Tolkien’s beloved classic The Lord of the Rings™ will see its world premiere on stage of Tampere Hall’s Main Auditorium on August 23, 2024. This unique production combines unforgettable theatre, original music composed by Tuomas Kantelinen and played by the Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra, as well as amazing circus performances by Sorin Sirkus.

Hobbits, Elves, Orcs, Ents, and other characters come to life when J. R. R. Tolkien’s epic fantasy adventure The Lord of the Rings™ is brought onto the stage in a whole new way. The theatrical masterpiece produced by Tampere Theatre and Tampere Hall is directed by Mikko Kanninen and, based on Kersti Juva’s Finnish translation, adapted for the stage by Sami Keski-Vähälä.

Starring in the main roles are e.g. Ella Mettänen (Frodo), Antti Reini (Aragorn), Ville Majamaa (Gandalf) and Risto Korhonen (Gollum). There are a total of 34 performances between August 22, 2024 and January 11, 2025. Tickets are on sale at Tampere Theatre, Tampere Hall, and Lippu.fi ticket sales channels.

Duration approximately 4 hours 15 minutes including two intermissions. The performance is recommended for ages 7 and up.

Light and sound effects and theatrical smoke are used during the performance.

Photography as well as video and sound recording are prohibited.

The Lord of the Rings™ is performed in Finnish. All performances are subtitled in English and Finnish. You can follow the subtitles with the subtitle application Subtitle Mobile on your own smartphone.

Before coming to the performance:

  1. Download the Subtitle Mobile (Loitsut Oy) application to your own phone from the App Store or Google Play: https://m.subtitles.cloud
  2. Remember that your phone must be fully charged when you arrive at Tampere Hall. The application requires a lot of battery time.

At Tampere Hall:

  1. Make sure the phone is on silent or activate do not disturb mode. Open the Subtitle Mobile app.
  2. Follow the application’s instructions and enter the 4-character letter code: TARU
  3. Select “start”.
  4. When using subtitles, select your desired subtitle language (Finnish or English).
  5. Subtitles appear automatically when the performance starts.
  6. During subtitles, you can adjust the screen brightness by touching the screen and dragging the adjuster that appears along the top edge of the screen. You can also change the subtitle language in the upper right corner.
  7. Close the application after the performance.
  8. You can exit the subtitle view by pressing the X symbol in the upper left corner.

Please be prepared to present the certificate entitling you to the discount ticket (e.g. student card) to the Tampere Hall staff.

Flexible tickets (the ticket type of your choosing + 5 € as a flexible ticket fee) can be switched to another show at least one week before the original show date, depending if there are seats available. Without a flexible ticket, the ticket exchange fee is 10 €/ticket.
If you are changing the ticket to a more expensive seat, you have to pay the price difference as well. If you change it to a less expensive seat, you will not get a refund from the original price.

Discount tickets for Tampere Hall loyalty program customers can only be purchased at the Tampere Hall ticket office. Please note that there is no discount ticket for pensioners, students or children.

If your party includes 10 or more people, you are entitled to a group offer. Please make your ticket reservation with our group sales. We grant groups of at least 30 people an advance buyer’s advantage when you redeem your ticket by December 31, 2023. Ask us for more information!
