The contemporary music ensemble TampereRaw and Tampere Hall have launched a new concert series titled The Sound of Now. The series features audience-friendly and immersive themed concerts of new music held at Tampere Hall, along with low-threshold side events and free-of-charge activities. Each concert includes a world premiere commissioned for the occasion and introduces audiences to the newest voices in contemporary music.

The second concert in the series is titled Wonderful Life and it will take place in the Small Auditorium of Tampere Hall on Thursday, 12 February 2026 at 6:30 pm. Designed by recorder innovator, saxophonist, and singer Eero Saunamäki, the concert celebrates life and the joy of living.

The artistic core of the concert is built around the newest Finnish concert music as well as the latest developments in international contemporary recorder music. The evening’s programme features one world premiere and two Finnish premieres.

“I want to show that the recorder is a modern wind instrument among its peers. The works performed in the concert offer the freedom of improvisation, melodic clarity, and even the energy familiar from popular music. The programme is based on my long-term collaboration with composers and my desire to highlight the expressive power of the recorder in a way that resonates both with contemporary music enthusiasts and new audiences,” says Eero Saunamäki.

The concert will be preceded by a discussion event in Tampere Hall’s lobby at 5:30 pm, themed “Culture as a part of human happiness and well-being”. Panelists will be announced later. The discussion will be moderated by TampereRaw’s Artistic Director and Producer, Anna Angervo.

As part of The Sound of Now series, an art exhibition inspired by the concert’s theme will be on display in Tampere Hall’s Winter Garden.

Concert duration is approx. 2 hours, including intermission.

Programme is subject to change.
