Moomin Museum pop-up shop opens at TMW in Fotografiska Tallinn

Moomin Museum pop-up shop opens at Tallinn Music Week (TMW) in Fotografiska Tallinn to celebrate Tampere 2026 cultural capital application and the anniversary of Tampere Hall. TMW will be teaming up with Tampere Hall and the Tampere 2026 European Capital of Culture bid to curate the festival’s opening night at Fotografiska Tallinn on Thursday, 27 August.The TMW 2020, taking place on 27 – 30 August, includes a new music showcase festival in various venues, Creative Impact Conference at the Estonian Academy of Arts and city festival events from art exhibitions to public discussions and free city stage concerts.

For the first time in Estonia, the Moomin Museum and the Tampere Hall Shop will open an original Moomin Museum pop-up store in Fotografiska Tallinn from 18 to 30 August, in collaboration with Tallinn Music Week. The world’s only Moomin Museum is located in Tampere Hall in Tampere, Finland, and it is a big year for the Moomins – 75 years have passed since the first Moomin book was published. The shop highlights the themes of the museum’s exhibitions, based on the original artwork of Finland’s acclaimed artist and writer, the creator of Moomins,  Tove Jansson, which make up the collection of art on display at the Moomin Museum, a place for adults and children alike. The pop-up shop selection includes Moomin products not available anywhere else from posters, postcards, magnets, and mugs to chocolate bars. Celebrating its 30th birthday this year, Tampere Hall is the largest conference and concert centre in the Nordics. It is also Finland’s first carbon-neutral conference and concert centre, which uses renewable energy to contribute to a fossil-free society. The musicians that make up TampereRaw are from the Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra, a full-size symphony orchestra that also resides in the Tampere Hall and celebrates its 90th anniversary this year. The Tampere 2026 team is working towards Tampere and its surrounding region becoming the European Capital of Culture in the year 2026. Their vision of sustainability and equality in their work is in perfect resonance with TMW 2020 topics, and both partners are also working towards raising awareness about the UN Sustainable Development Goals. TMW will be teaming up with Tampere Hall and the Tampere 2026 European Capital of Culture bid to curate the festival’s opening night at Fotografiska Tallinn on Thursday, 27 August. As Paulina Ahokas, the Managing Director of Tampere Hall explains: “It feels perfectly natural for the Tampere 2026 cultural capital process and Tampere Hall to join forces with TMW to spread the love of music, the thrill of wonderful encounters and experiences, and the message of equality.
