Robots and 1.000 conference visitors invade Tampere Hall in March

Did you know that Tampere University of Technology’s teaching and research in moving, flying, and swimming robots are remarkable in Finland? European Robotics Forum (ERF), the most influential meeting of the robotics community in Europe, will be held in Tampere on 13–15 March 2018. Over 1.000 European top robotics experts are expected to attend the conference. ERF’s arrival to Tampere is an excellent opportunity to create new collaborative relationships and to demonstrate Finnish skills and knowledge. The European Robotics Forum 2018 (ERF2018) will be held at Tampere Hall on 13─15 March 2018. ERF2018 covers current societal and technical themes related to the field of robotics. Interesting subjects will be discussed, including human-robot-collaboration and how robotics can improve industrial productivity and service sector operations.  The conference also showcases the newest research in the field, and the projects funded under EU’s Horizon 2020 research programme. The event offers Finnish companies a unique window to the European markets. – Having the conference come to Tampere gives us a significant opportunity to promote our expertise and create vitally important collaboration contacts. For instance, Tampere University of Technology’s teaching and research in moving, flying, and swimming robots is among the most extensive in Finland. In addition, TUT research is put straight into practice in industry and business applications, says Dean Pauli Kuosmanen from the Faculty of Engineering Sciences. After its start in San Sebastian in 2010, The European Robotics Forums has grown into a major annual event with hundreds of attendees every year. In 2017, the conference was held in Edinburgh. Now is Tampere’s turn to shine. The European Robotics Forum is organised by euRobotics under SPARC, the Public-Private partnership for Robotics in Europe. ERF2018 is hosted by The Robotics Society in Finland in collaboration with Tampere University of Technology. The employees of Tampere Hall are eager to welcome the guests in March. What does it take to create an event such as ERF2018 at Tampere Hall? Account Manager Mira Mäkelä thinks that Tampere Hall has the right skills and experience when it comes to arranging big international congresses. – This kind of event require versatile and functional facilities. Because of the huge number of participants we need to have lots of services nearby such as hotels, restaurants and stores. Luckily we have all that just a couple steps away from our culture and congress centre. We are setting up our experienced staff that is service-minded and language skilled. They already have plenty of experience in arranging congresses and how to welcome international guests. The preparations of ERF have started with throughout planning. A conference concerning robotics and high-end technology must impress the guests. Nevertheless, everything must go smoothly, there is no place for technical or any other issues. Finland, especially Tampere, has to show what it is all about. – We have planned the event for a while now with the organizer. At this moment we are adjusting the details with our technical department, customer service and restaurant staff. We will go through the practical details with the organizer to ensure that nothing comes as an unwanted surprise. One thing is sure: we will have joyful and memorable encounters with our international guests. Our goal is to top the expectations and make sure that the event is successful in every way.
