Two voices. Two careers. One shared stage. Two of the best-known voices in Finnish rock and metal, Timo Kotipelto and Jarkko Ahola, are embarking on their first concert hall tour together. Expect an energetic tour combining favourites from the repertoires of these two charismatic singers, rock classics and duets never heard before.

Launching in Joensuu on 19 February, the Voices Unleashed tour will feature the artists’ own hits, including Stratovarius’s “Black Diamond” and favourites from across Ahola’s career, alongside selected rock classics by Queen, Deep Purple, Ozzy and Scorpions. The programme also includes rock arrangements of unexpected songs and, of course, duets performed by Kotipelto and Ahola together. The 14-concert tour concludes in Helsinki on 21 April.

“Above all, this is about what happens when two distinctive, powerful voices come together in the same space. We wanted to create a concert where audiences can hear us both individually and together. And we’re really going to let our voices loose,” enthuse Jarkko Ahola and Timo Kotipelto in unison.

The tour combines the power of a rock concert, the tenderness of great ballads and the interplay between two charismatic performers.

“We intend to live up to the audience’s expectations, so of course we’ll be including our own material,” promises Jarkko Ahola, confirming that “Taivas lyö tulta” will definitely be on the setlist.

“I don’t think they’d let us leave the stage without those songs,” says Timo Kotipelto, adding: “It’s an honour to share the stage with Jarkko. This will certainly give us stories to tell future generations.”

“I’m truly honoured to share the stage with someone whose impressive career I’ve followed, including his success abroad,” Ahola agrees.

The singers will be accompanied by the magnificent Avenue Rock Orchestra. Bringing together some of Finland’s leading musicians, this 12-piece ensemble is led by conductor Antti Rissanen and combines a rock band, a horn section and strings.

Jarkko Ahola
One of the most significant turning points in rock tenor Jarkko Ahola’s career was launching his solo career after Teräsbetoni. Also known for his appearances on the television programme Elämäni biisi, Ahola has recently brought his powerful voice to numerous tours and festivals, performing power metal and heavy metal. He is currently on his own Hienoimmat ja suurimmat concert hall tour, with his traditional Christmas concert tour also coming up.

Timo Kotipelto
Kotipelto is known as the frontman of the internationally acclaimed power metal band Stratovarius. He has been the band’s lead vocalist since 1994. He is currently delighting Finnish audiences on the television programme Vain elämää on Nelonen. In a couple of weeks, Stratovarius will begin a tour taking them to countries including Colombia, Panama, Japan and China.

Avenue Rock Orchestra
On guitars are virtuoso Tuomas Wäinölä, known for the Raskasta Joulua concerts, and versatile guitarist Saku Mattila. Stratovarius drummer Rolf Pilve provides the beat. Bob Engstrand, who moved to Finland from Sweden, plays keyboards, with the rock-solid Jere Lehto on bass. The horn section features Tero Lindberg, Antti Rissanen and Janne Huttunen, also known as Popeda’s horn section during Pate Mustajärvi’s time with the band. The string section comprises musicians from Kymi Sinfonietta.
