Australian musician Tommy Emmanuel is known as an acoustic guitar virtuoso who has been charming concert halls across the world for decades. Emmanuel’s music career started when he was only six years old and touring Australia in his family band. By 30, Emmanuel had become a rock guitarist bouncing back and forth from stadium to stadium in Europe. At 44, he became one of five people to receive the title of Certified Guitar Player from musical icon Chet Atkins. The recipient of many highly respected awards, Tommy Emmanuel plays hundreds of sold-out gigs every year, from Sydney to Nashville to London.
Tommy Emmanuel is best known for his original, technically masterful playing style that combines drums, bass lines, harmonies, chords and melodies. Despite this, he does not use looper pedals or backing tracks – all he needs is his own ten fingers.
Tommy Emmanuel has built an enormous and faithful fanbase across the world. Along with his technical prowess, his music is also known for a deep sentimentality and a burning passion that comes across in each individual chord. At concerts, Emmanuel interacts warmly with his audience, giving the impression this musical legend is just jamming with friends.
Emmanuel’s concerts in Finland feature a warm-up act by guitarist and songwriter Mike Dawes, who is known for his acoustic guitar skills and love for mixing genres.
Concert length approximately 90 minutes, no interval.
