Tampere Hall is teeming with events in autumn 2018

Tampere Hall will be full of feeling and events again in the autumn season 2018, the programme ranging from Grammy-awarded artists, jazz legends and top classical music to Finland’s favourite artists!

The autumn season starts with a free park concert, contemporary circus and world-class ballet

The awaited Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra’s Park Concert kicks off the autumn season in a spectacular way on Friday, August 10th. Conducted by Santtu-Matias Rouvali, the orchestra will play music amongst other from the musical West Side Story. Other highlights in August include a contemporary circus show Paris de Nuit (11-12 Aug) and the Grand International Ballet Gala 2018 (Aug 27).

Rock classics, lovely jazz and hot Latin rhythms from the top international artists

The legendary gospel blues assembly The Blind Boys of Alabama perform in Tampere Hall on October 29. Established already in 1939, the band has won five Grammy Awards, co-operated with names like Eric Clapton and Prince, and encouraged all the visually impaired people all over the world with their music. Called the Cuban Rolling Stones, the Latin music pioneer Los Van Van will arrive to Tampere on October 21st, sure to make the spectators get up from their seats to dance. Other international stars of the Tampere Hall’s autumn are, among others, the big name of folk rock, known for the hit American Pie, Don McLean (Oct 19), the rocker Glenn Hughes performing Deep Purple classics (Nov 29), sound of the travellers’ culture Gypsy Devils Orchestra (Sept 2) and the gospel band Harlem Spirit of Gospel feat. Anthony Morgan (Dec 3).

Best of the Finnish artists and legends of jazz

An impressive selection of the top Finnish acts will be seen at the Tampere Hall this autumn: Pelle Miljoona (Nov 22), Paula Koivuniemi Roots & Friends (Oct 14), Egotrippi (Nov 25), Anssi Kela (Oct 11), Michael Monroe (Oct 28), Club For Five (Oct 6), Ricky-Tick Big Band & Julkinen Sana (Oct 20) and many more! The concert series Legends of Jazz consists of four concerts, starred by Aili Ikonen (Sept 29)Pentti Lahti Quintet (Oct 18)Heikki Sarmanto (Nov 15) and Antti Sarpila Swing Band (Dec 5).

Classics from the Nutcracker to Carmina Burana

The Saint Petersburg Festival Ballet will arrive to Tampere Hall to interpret Tchaikovsky’s ballet The Nutcracker. This beloved family Christmas classic will take the stage in November 16-18. Other highlights or the autumn include the Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra’s interpretation of Carl Orff’s best known work  Carmina Burana, conducted by Santtu-Matias Rouvali (Nov 9-10).
