Cecilia Damström: new work, world premiere (commissioned by Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra)
Ludwig van Beethoven: Piano Concerto No. 3
Johannes Brahms: Symphony No. 3
The Beethoven specialist Paul Lewis, explorer of the secret worlds of compositions, continues his acclaimed series. Powerful and virtuosic, the Third Piano Concerto, with its tragic overtones, showed the globe Ludwig van Beethoven’s true face: a fire-spitting hurler of notes who seeks neither permission nor forgiveness. Johannes Brahms’s third symphony resounds in praise of symphonic unity, while the new work by Cecilia Damström delves into the dark reality of information wars.
The concert lasts about two hours and includes an intermission. The concert is part of the orchestra’s subscriber series, which includes a Pre-concert talk (Teokset tutuiksi) at 6 PM and childcare (Lapsiparkki, 10 €) starting from 6:45 PM.
Changes are possible.
