Jean Sibelius: The Oceanides
Henri Dutilleux: Tout un monde lointain, Cello Concerto
Gustav Mahler: Symphony No 1 “Titan”

The concert travels from the world’s edges to the fringes of imagination. With his impressionistic tone poem, Jean Sibelius stirred up swells that reached as far as America. Henri Dutilleux’s cello concerto embraces abstract mindscapes in the spirit of French poetry. Gustav Mahler calls to adventures with Titan, the literary hero of his first symphony. Award-winning and critically acclaimed cello star Maximilian Hornung makes his debut as a soloist with the Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra.

The concert is part of the orchestra’s subscriber series, which includes a Pre-concert talk (Teokset tutuiksi) at 6 p.m. and childcare (Lapsiparkki, 10 €) starting from 6:45 p.m.

The concert includes an intermission and will last about two hours.

Changes are possible.
