Infran Ammattipäivät 2026 extended across nine spaces at Tampere Hall. For Nina Raitanen, Leading Specialist at Rakennusteollisuuden Infra, the value of the venue was most evident in the fact that a large event did not have to rest on the organiser’s shoulders alone.

Nine spaces, one coherent event

Infran Ammattipäivät was held at Tampere Hall on 11–12 March 2026. Organised by Rakennusteollisuuden Infra, the two-day event brought together infrastructure sector professionals for a programme that included expert content, an exhibition, catering and an evening event.

The event used nine spaces, including Small Auditorium, the Duetto spaces, Park Hall, Maestro, Sopraano, Park Foyer, the VIP room and the registration area. When an event moves across several spaces, the organiser needs to understand in advance how people will move through the venue, where the exhibition will gain visibility, and how catering and the evening programme will become part of the same overall event.

Nina Raitanen, Leading Specialist at Rakennusteollisuuden Infra, knows what this means in practice. Over the course of her career, she has organised several different events at Tampere Hall. Her view is therefore not based on a first impression, but on experience of what different types of events require from both the organiser and the venue.

More at once

Infran Ammattipäivät was not built around a single topic. Its background lies in several infrastructure sector events that were previously organised as separate events: Louhintapäivät, Päällystekurssi, Urakointipäivät and Kiviainespäivät. A few years ago, the decision was made to bring them together under one umbrella as a single, coherent event.

The idea was practical and participant-focused. Different themes within the infrastructure sector do not exist entirely separately from one another, and many participants may be interested in several perspectives.

“Each separate event already involves a lot of organising on its own. At the same time, many participants may be interested in more than one theme. We wanted to offer more to our members and to other participants.”

For the organiser, this means a larger and more demanding whole. When several themes, programmes, an exhibition, catering and an evening event all sit within the same event, the venue’s role is to help keep the overall event clear for both the organiser and the participants.

The overall event starts to take shape before the event day

In an event such as Infran Ammattipäivät, it is essential that the overall structure starts to take shape already during the planning phase. Where does the programme take place? Where should the exhibition be located? How do participants move from one space to another? Where is there time for encounters? At what point does the catering support the rhythm of the day?

For Nina, planning was made easier by the fact that Tampere Hall was already familiar to her.

“When the venue is familiar, you can place yourself there. You can visualise that this will happen there, and that will work like this.”

For a new organiser, the overall picture is built during the planning process. Tampere Hall’s specialists know the spaces, routes, event-day practicalities and the rhythm of large events, and they help the organiser see how the event will work in practice.

“It is easy to come back to Tampere Hall. There is something homely, effortless and friendly about it. You know what the venue makes possible, and you know that things will be taken care of.”

Last-minute changes did not let the situation unravel

In large events, plans continue to evolve until the end. Catering numbers change, registrations are updated, cancellations come in and final details are still being adjusted close to the event.

“When the catering numbers changed and last-minute changes came up, you responded calmly that this would work and that it had been taken care of. That was very reassuring.”

For the organiser, calmness translates into peace of mind. When changes arise, they are met by experienced specialists who look for solutions rather than adding pressure. Nina also remembers that Tampere Hall’s staff looked at the changes from the organiser’s point of view.

“Even at the final stage, you looked at which cost impacts could still be removed. That was done without me even knowing to ask.”

Participants may not notice this kind of work. The organiser does.

A programme idea that brought a sense of danger to the evening

In the interview, Nina highlighted the evening performance by Sorin Sirkus and recalled that Tampere Hall had provided a tip for the programme. The performance stayed with her precisely because it brought something unexpected to the evening of a professional event.

“When you have organised a lot of events yourself and you know that people attend many events, the question is: how do you surprise them anymore? The Sorin Sirkus performance was genuinely impressive. It had a sense of danger, in a positive way.”

The Sorin Sirkus performance brought a moment to the evening that Nina describes as a genuinely surprising experience. It also shows how staff expertise and local knowledge can support the event as a whole, including at the level of content.

Large, but not carried alone

The scale of Infran Ammattipäivät was visible in the spaces, the programme and the number of moving parts. In Nina’s experience, however, the significance of Tampere Hall was most evident in how organising the event felt. The event was large, but it was not something the organiser had to carry alone.

“Ease, a sense of familiarity, effortlessness and friendliness. Those are the things that describe Tampere Hall as an event venue.”
