Tampere Hall's Main Auditorium offers a unique setting for concerts, parties, cultural events and large meetings.
In the Main Auditorium of the Tampere Hall, a large number of domestic front-line artists and international stars perform every year. The space serves as the home of the Tampere Philharmonic, and the hall also hosts a large-scale opera production annually, produced by the Tampere Hall and the Tampere Opera.
The sizing and design of the Main Auditorium was originally developed to meet the requirements of large-scale orchestral music and choral works. With its sculptural beauty, the Main Auditorium makes a pulsating impression on even the big international stars. At the same time, the space also serves as an excellent lecture hall for large domestic meetings and international congresses. The stage easily adapts to different needs, and serves as a backdrop for an unforgettable dinner. The hall can also be furnished with conference tables.
Concerts and cultural productions
The Main Auditorium and its versatile performance stage, as well as modern technical capabilities, serve all types of concerts and cultural productions. The sound and technology of the Main Auditorium are suitable for both a rock gig and a classical music concert, and guarantee a uniform sound reproduction for each seat.
The hall underwent an extensive lighting renovation in the summer of 2020, and a rail renovation in the summer of 2021, which improved the platform’s suspension possibilities.
Seminars and federal meetings
The Main Auditorium also hosts federal meetings of big decisions, business seminars starring top speakers, and international congresses.
Up to four different views can be projected onto a white screen at once. You can also get a spectacular meeting set up by changing to a panoramic screen.
The atmosphere of the event is completed by lighting made with colors picked from the visual look of the event or the brand of your company, which can be subdued or slightly crazy according to your wishes.
In the atmosphere of the Main Auditorium, the basic idea was a Finnish musical dream: The most enjoyable experience one can have is when he sits in the forest on a stump. Above it spreading the birch foliage and starry sky and the birdsong is heard. We wanted a folded roof that embraces the audience like a wooden foliage.Architect Esa Piironen
The starting point for the design of the architecture of the Main Auditorium has been the idea of a Finn sitting in the forest on a stump, birch foliage and starry sky at the top, and bird song as music.
The materials and design of the Main Auditorium are recognizable and unique in Finland. The wooden surfaces are acoustically shaped, but at the same time an aesthetically fresh-looking whole has been achieved.
The Main Auditorium has retained its original look, but the acoustics and technology have been updated over the years. For example, the sound of a symphony orchestra has been improved with a cloud sky formed by acoustic panels and reflector surfaces made of birch.
