The greatest blues artist alive!
“My daddy never told me to sing the blues, but he also didn’t tell me to not sing the blues. I took that as a green light.” – Bobby Rush
Legendary Bobby Rush has been known as one of the most fantastic live performers of blues and soul for over 50 years. This 84-year old gentleman grew up in Louisiana and Arkansas and reached the pinnacle of his career in Chicago.
He combines blues, rap, and funk innovatively, without showing any signs of tiring. In recent years, we have watched him performing James Brown’s songs with Dan Akroyd in The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and jamming with the Queens of the Stone Age.
Rush reckons he has made some 370 tracks in his career, and he as also been nominated for Blues Hall of Fame. Rush’s album released in 2016, Porcupine Meat, won the Grammy for the best traditional blues album and topped the Billboard’s blues list.
Many believe that Rush is the greatest blues artist alive today, and it doesn’t sound at all far-fetched in this case!
