The longest-running all-female rock band, still active after almost 40 years!

Girlschool is a rock band representing the new wave of British heavy metal. During their career that spans over 40 years, Girlschool has created unforgettable hits, such as Race with the devil and Please don’t touch. Simultaneously, the band has proved that women can be more than groupies or something to sing about – they can be rock stars!

Girlschool started in 1978 and has operated since with different ensembles. In the 1980s, the band made three albums that received plenty of media attention and made the band a globally known name. Since the 1990s, the band has focused more on touring and gigs, which undeniably can be seen in the irresistible energy the band radiates on stage!

Girlschool has played different rock festivals around the world alongside with other legendary rock and heavy metal bands. The band has often been compared to their contemporary Motörhead. Girlschool released their latest album in 2015.

This ensemble has inspired many later rock bands started by women, and they still make their concerts as much of an experience as they did back in the golden era of heavy metal, the 1980s!
