When disco ruled the charts in the summer of 1977, Robert Gordon’s classic rock ‘n’ roll single, Red Hot, offered a large dose of something completely different. His vibrant single became a surprise hit which opened the doors for other names in rockabilly music, from The Stray Cats to Shakin’ Stevens. With his classic albums following the hit single, Robert Gordon achieved downright iconic status as the musician who revived rockabilly music. At the beginning of his career, Gordon worked in tight cooperation with various other artists such as, for example, Iggy Pop, and also dueted a few times with Bruce Springsteen.
Now – forty years later – Robert Gordon is back. Gordon has survived the rough rock ‘n’ roll lifestyle and sounds better today than he has done in years. For his Tampere Hall concert, he has assembled a virtuoso band, with top guitar player Darrel Higham, who has also played with names such as Jeff Beck and Imelda May.
– I am so looking forward to this show. We will be playing all of our classic songs and also a few of my personal favourites. Darrel will also be performing a few songs. This will be a night to remember, Robert Gordon says.
This concert with Robert Gordon and Darrel Higham as its stars will be an unforgettable experience for anyone whose heart beats for that good ol’ rock ‘n’ roll.
