Ilmiliekki Quartet is one of Finland’s most talented and revered jazz ensembles, and consists of internationally renowned musicians Tuomo Prättälä, Verneri Pohjola, Antti Lötjönen and Olavi Louhivuori.
On 26 April 2020, jazz enthusiasts will have reason to celebrate when the ensemble releases their new record, Land of Real Men, after a thirteen year long wait. Ilmiliekki Quartet has firmly established its place in Finnish and Nordic jazz festivals, and the group performs frequently in Europe and North America.
The ensemble’s music is a mixture of freely improvised and composed sections, which leaves plenty of space for free play around structured themes. In addition to playing the group members’ own pieces, Ilmiliekki perform their own interpretations of songs from Björk, Ornette Coleman, Tom Waits, Radiohead and Suzanne Vega. Ilmiliekki Quartet’s strength arises from excellent ensemble work and sharing the visions, attitudes and bravery required for creating truly ambitious and inventive music.
There is an intermission in the show.
Attention! There is an area suitable for drinking beverages during the show.
The area is located in the stalls, bench rows 12–17. Age limit 18+. You may only purchase beverages before the show or during the intermission. The sales counters are located in the lobby.
