Despite his young age, Olli Soikkeli (born in 1991) has become one of the world’s most respected gypsy jazz guitarists. He will now perform in Finland with the Grammy-awarded pianist Marian Petrescun and bassist Teemu Åkerblom. The trio has released a new album that nods to legendary guitar-piano-bass ensembles made famous by the likes of Oscar Peterson and Nat King Cole. The concert is part of the album release tour.
The New York based Soikkeli has performed beside the genre’s world stars in jazz clubs and festivals around Europe and the United States. In 2016, magazines Huffington Post and All About Jazz chose Soikkeli’s Rhythm Future Quartet’s album Travels as one the best jazz albums of the year.
“Olli Soikkeli, is a riveting Finnish guitarist who combines astonishing dexterity and speed with pure soul in a way that places him among the worthiest current day successors to the legacy of the great Django”.
