Sointi Jazz Orchestra, an 18-strong group, and legendary saxophone and flute player Juhani “Junnu” Aaltonen celebrate their third album, Saarnaaja, released in November 2018. Saarnaaja has been described as a “big band concerto” and a “long dialogue between Junnu and the orchestra”. This melodic and meandering recording draws inspiration from various rhythm music styles and classical music alike.
Juhani “Junnu” Aaltonen (1935) is a prominent Finnish jazz tenor saxophonist and flautist. Sointi Jazz Orchestra is a group made up of young professional musicians with their own unique sound based on a wide range of instruments. This Big band-type group has worked with first-rate professionals such as Jukka Perko and Aili Ikonen.
The duration of the concert is 1 h 40 min.
Attention! There is an area suitable for drinking beverages during the show. The area is located in the stalls, bench rows 12–17. Age limit 18+. You may only purchase beverages before the show or during the intermission. The sales counters are located in the lobby.
